Event Round up: Sino-UK AI Innovation and Development Forum
On 23rd September, during 2021 London Tech Week, Sino-International Entrepreneurs Federation (SIEF) Technology and Innovation Committee and Xinchuang Tech have put up a successful online forum in partnership with techUK, London & Partners, and China Association of International Trade, bringing officials from the Chinese Embassy in the UK, industry experts and scholars, investors, elites from Global 500 enterprises and promising entrepreneurs together to jointly discuss and share their knowledge and latest findings or achievements on this year’s theme of Innovative R&D in AI and Digital Technology, Technology Transformation & Investment, and Industry Development and Cooperation.
JIANG Sunan, Minister Counsellor for Science and Technology of the Chinese Embassy in the UK, first extended his good wishes to the event organiser for their firm commitment to deepening technology and innovation cooperation between China and UK. He extensively introduced the initiatives, projects and schemes of China-UK AI collaborations, stressing that the two countries share prominent complementary advantages in AI and digital technologies, and hoped both sides will strengthen mutual understanding so as to actively boost R&D and industrial cooperation.
JIN Xu, Chairman of China Association of International Trade, underlined the crucial role that AI as the most important emerging technology plays in technology exchange. The UK leads innovative R&D in Artificial Intelligence and China has a market with great potential for AI application. The application and commercialisation of AI technologies will drastically remove all obstacles including the isolation caused by the global pandemic, and resume international exchanges in economy and trade.
Katherine Holden, Head of Data Analytics, AI and Digital ID of techUK, emphasised on the newly released UK National AI Strategy in her opening remarks, and expressed her willingness to further collaborate with world leading players in AI including China through this forum, bringing the development of UK AI industry to a greater scale, and hit the ten-year strategic objective.
DONG Bin, China Coordinator of Sino-International Entrepreneurs Federation, and CHEN Liyang, Vice President of Xinyuan Group & President of Xinchuang Tech delivered welcome remarks respectively, and thanked all parties from China and UK for their support and participation. Since 2018, Sino-UK AI Innovation and Development Forum has been consecutively held during London Tech Week, which has gradually become an influential platform for dialogue in tech community. Despite facing the challenges of the pandemic, SIEF Tech Committee and Xinchuang Tech will relentlessly enhance this China-UK communication platform, extend global cooperation in science and technology, and continuously promote complementary advantages and win-win cooperation in AI and digital technology industries.
