Jisc Joins techUK: A New Era of Support for Education and EdTech
We’re excited to announce that Jisc has officially joined techUK's membership, marking a significant moment for our Education and EdTech Programme. This partnership not only strengthens the techUK community but provides an opportunity to amplify Jisc’s vital work across the education sector and beyond.
In a time where sector leaders are urgently seeking advice with actionable solutions, Jisc's role becomes pivotal. With the education landscape still lacking the central leadership once provided by BECTA, Jisc is well positioned to offer the stability and strategic direction the sector desperately needs, particularly around the use of technology. Their work in cybersecurity highlights this, filling a critical gap for institutions that have been navigating a complex and often fragmented digital environment.
On the sharp end of this fragmentation sits a precarious sector-wide cybersecurity stance within K12 education. Without a unified, joined-up approach, schools and trusts are left vulnerable to increasing cyber threats. Jisc, however, brings expertise to address these vulnerabilities, as demonstrated in their case study with E-ACT Multi-Academy Trust.
Looking ahead, Jisc is taking proactive steps to help education providers improve their cybersecurity. On 5 November, Jisc will host a webinar titled "Security and savings: optimising Microsoft Defender XDR in your organisation." This session is designed to guide IT decision-makers, CIOs, CTOs, and security professionals through optimising Microsoft Defender XDR for enhanced cybersecurity and cost savings. Attendees will learn practical steps to better secure their environments, reduce costs, and make the most of their Microsoft licensing. With Richard Jackson, head of cloud security at Jisc, leading the session, participants will gain insights into best practices, common pitfalls, and Jisc’s newly launched Defender XDR services.
Jisc’s entry into techUK comes at a critical time for the education sector, where demand for robust, cohesive technology strategies has never been higher. By joining forces with techUK, we’re excited to help shape the future of education technology and technology in education.
