NHS Marketplace, a new digital platform designed to facilitate collaboration and innovation across the NHS, was officially launched by NHS England CIO John Quinn on December 4^th to the techUK community. NHS Marketplace aims to:

Connect Vendors and Healthcare Professionals: Bridging the gap between technology providers and healthcare practitioners, ensuring that the best solutions reach the frontlines of patient care.
Promote Scalable Innovation: Encouraging the development and adoption of scalable solutions that can be implemented across the NHS.
Enhance Knowledge Sharing: Facilitating the exchange of best practices and insights, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and collaboration.

The event brought together technology vendors, healthcare professionals, and industry leaders to explore the future of healthcare innovation and the role of NHS Marketplace in driving this transformation.

John Quinn highlighted the three key shifts that are essential for the future of healthcare:

Shifting from Hospital Care to Community Care: Moving healthcare services closer to patients to improve accessibility and reduce the burden on hospitals.
Migrating Analogue Systems into Digital Ones: Transitioning from outdated, paper-based systems to modern, digital solutions to enhance efficiency and accuracy.
Targeting Prevention Beyond Sickness: Focusing on preventive measures to keep patients healthy and reduce the incidence of chronic diseases.

To achieve these shifts, the NHS requires new ways of thinking that promote collaboration and scalable innovation. The ‘One Digital Way’ programme is designed to tackle these objectives across the NHS infrastructure, of which NHS Marketplace will play a key part.
