techUK Podcast Special: Government Chief People Officer
We are delighted to release our Building the Smarter State podcast special, an interview with Rupert McNeil, the Government Chief People Officer.
In September our ‘Building the Smarter State’ conference brought together digital leaders from across the breadth of public and the private sectors to showcase how technology is shaping today’s and tomorrow’s public services – helping to build a smarter state.
The event focussed on the twin themes of People & Places, and a great deal of the speakers touched on the civil service workforce of the future: the skills public servants will need, and the tech tools that will be available to them in a decade’s time.
Building on the momentum of the conference, on behalf of techUK Shaheen Sayed (CEO of Accenture's Government Business, UK & Ireland) sat down with Rupert McNeil to explore this theme further.
Their chat covered the challenges of ensuring that the civil service has a workforce to meet future requirements, developing leadership within the civil service, tackling inclusivity and diversity issues, and exploring what more industry can do to support the development of digital and business transformation skills in the public sector.
