Local Digital Capital: Leveraging the power of technology (video)
This week (24-28 October) techUK is running its Nations and Regions Week to coincide with the publication of our 2022 Local Digital Capital Index, a tool designed to aid discussions and decisions in strengthening local tech ecosystems across the UK.
All week we'll be featuring guest blogs from members celebrating the contributions made by the tech sector to drive forward levelling up, digital adoption, develop digital skills, connect people, and harness R&D in the UK’s nations and regions
In the below video our Head of Nations and Regions, Matt Robinson is joined by Professor Kerensa Jennings, Group Director of Data Platforms at BT and Chair of techUK’s Local Digital Capital Working Group to discuss how we can use technology to ensure we are enabling opportunities for the entire country to thrive during a cost-of-living crisis.
In the video they address the digital skills challenges and the work done since the beginning of the pandemic to give people the possibility to connect and develop their skills. The discussion moves on to how SMEs can make the most of technological advances and sharing best practice, which can bring numerous advantages.
Professor Jennings also highlights that providing impeccable quality of data is vital to having a robust Local Digital Capital Index that can act as a platform for policy makers to implement change.
