Welcome to techUK's Digitalisation of Trade Week 2022
Companies are often faced with challenges associated with the cost of moving goods across borders, which can render participation in international trade a difficult and costly exercise.
The international digital trade ecosystem is however witnessing a radical transformation, enabling industry to dramatically cut the cost, remove unnecessary bureaucracy, and improve transparency and efficiency. Blockchain, artificial intelligence, cloud computing, are just some of the technologies that open up a range of new opportunities for businesses looking to trade across borders. Digitalisation can reduce the cost, complexity of doing business across borders and the risk of fraud, enabling more companies to participate in global trade.
Whilst technology can bring significant time and cost savings to trade, the adoption of digital solutions and digitisation of trade documents face a number of challenges from outdated domestic laws to interoperability of standards.
We will explore opportunities digitalisation and digital trade ecosystem bring to businesses involved in cross-border trade and how digital technologies can be leveraged to facilitate international trade. We will also discuss challenges to the adoption of digital solutions in international trade and digitisation of trade documents, and finally look at how modern technologies can make trade more sustainable.
