Digital Identity’s have revolutionized the way we authenticate online details, leading to more efficient processes, reduced fraud and greater trust. Whether it’s how we’re communicating, shopping, managing our finances, dating, accessing healthcare or public services, the ability to verify identity has quickly become a critical vanguard to the Digital Economy. The Digital ID sector is also playing increasing roles in enterprise identity, whether it’s authenticating key details about businesses or validating signatures.
The UK’s Digital ID market is mature, with use cases across retail, banking, social media, housing and the public sector. With Identity verification likely to be brought forward by the Trust Framework, the foundations will be set, but what’s next for the sector?
The new government is facing a series of fundamental challenges, from increasing productivity and online trust, to combatting fraud which accounts for 40% of all UK crime. A key tool in addressing these challenges is the ability to authenticate identity in a secure, privacy enhancing and efficient way, which will require greater support and adoption of the Digital ID sector.
On November 28th, techUK will be convening key leaders across industry and Government, to explore what the future holds for Digital Identity, and what actions we can take to increase public and private adoption.
