Since 2017, the Summit has established itself as the premier gathering where world-leading academics, lawyers, technical experts, and policymakers convene to explore the evolution of ethical principles, evaluate developments in data and AI policy, and critically examine how to achieve responsible and ethical innovation.
With a diverse array of speakers, the Summit has consistently driven a forward-looking and influential agenda, focusing on in-depth examination of the most pressing issues of our time, with a clear objective of translating discussion into actionable outcomes.
This year's Summit reflects on and assesses the progress made in moving digital ethics forward in a year where the focus for organisations, policymakers, and regulators has been on finding the answers to the many questions surfaced and raised by the events of the year before.
Last year's breakthroughs in Generative AI, global summits and the emergence of regulatory proposals underscored the critical role of digital ethical principles. After a year of significant insights, the past twelve months have been a period of reflection, consolidation, and refinement.
At the Summit we will reflect on the key developments, trends and issues that have emerged during this year of focused thinking, assess the tangible progress made by the shift in focus seen in the last twelve months, evaluate what we have learned and consider how we can apply these lessons to shape a responsible and ethical digital future.
The summit will explore the impact and implications of the technical breakthroughs seen this year, consider what’s next for AI regulation and regulators in the UK, and assess the maturity and effectiveness of the UK's AI assurance and standards ecosystem as a translator of AI regulation. In a year where organisations are looking for solutions, we will unpack the evolving role and importance of the AI Ethicist and assess what efforts to professionalise this position means. Given concerns about the impact of synthetic media on public trust, the Summit will debate the concept of truth in the age of AI as well as consider the ethics of emerging technologies.
Looking ahead, we will consider how to navigate the complex landscape of digital ethics in 2025 and chart a course for the future. We will critically assess whether we have the right structures, institutions, and tools to identify, understand, prepare and respond to challenges that may lie ahead and questions that are still yet to come.
