David Sykes
Head of Data, Octopus Group
David Sykes is Head of Data at Octopus Energy Group, where he leads teams of data scientists, analysts and engineers across the Group to create value from the enormous amount of data they generate. During his time at Octopus, David has been responsible for designing and optimising many of Octopus’ innovative smart tariffs as well as leading the teams building innovative AI products for Octopus’ proprietary tech platform, Kraken.
David’s team finds patterns in billions of rows of customer information, enabling the company to be more cost-effective, and in turn offers better value to customers. David joined Octopus in its first year of incorporation, following a career in the oil and gas sector. David studied Natural Sciences at Cambridge University and holds a Masters in Reservoir Engineering from Imperial.
