Overview
The eighth edition of our flagship public services conference, Building the Smarter State, took place at The Royal Society on Thursday 29 September.
For the last seven years the conference has successfully attracted digital leaders from across the breadth of public and the private sectors to showcase how technology is shaping todays and tomorrow’s public services – helping to build a smarter state.
Having reached a critical juncture of digital transformation, this year we move from the ‘why’ to ’how’, hearing from senior digital leaders on how we secure and sustain the smarter state.
The pandemic has accelerated public service digital transformation and has shown what is possible when the right digital infrastructure and leadership is in place. Now we will look at the role digital technologies and public services play in unlocking the next wave of transformation in delivering resilient public services.
Speakers and delegates were exploring how we better utilise data and emerging technologies to meet the societal challenges of net zero and to upskill the workforce to sustain and deliver digital services that meet the needs of citizens. With the pledges made at COP 26 and the launch of the National Cyber Strategy there is no better time to convene central and local government, the NHS, blue light and industry to discover the role digital technologies play in securing and sustaining our public services.
